WALKING / HIKING
Hiking, or walking is an activity that comes down to walking a path, taking the opportunity to enjoy the scenery and contact with nature, without having any concern with making the journey in a short period of time. Based on the knowledge of the region, monitoring and support material for this natural activity is available. Come to know “Os Caminhos das Azenhas” or “Cheiros da Serra”.
“3-BOARD BOATS” TOUR
When practiced in calm waters, which is the case of the river Zêzere in Dornes, this area is ideal for lovers of peaceful walks. They provide an effective contact with nature along the watercourse. It is intended to make it possible to ride on a 3-board boat or even make known the method of construction of that vessel.
Orientation is a sporting activity of a nature, where participants are invited to go through a certain route, previously outlined, using only one map. The participant will have to go through a series of previously determined control points and reach the final destination, overcoming the various natural obstacles that he faces.
The all-terrain bike (MTB) or mountain bike, due to its great versatility and robustness, allows you to explore corners of nature that would otherwise not be accessible. Due to the versatility of this vehicle, any terrain can be used for the practice of this modality, being the most sought after fertile mountainous terrain on steep slopes. It will be an activity for which support information will be made available.
The practice of recreational (or sport) fishing is one in which a person fishes just for fun. The fact of being able to catch one or more fish is no longer the main objective of the fisherman, being just another factor to brighten his experience. In the area surrounding Dornes, the Zêzere River offers the possibility of fishing for species such as carp, largemouth bass or boga.
For lovers of typical cuisine, the region offers a wide range of products. The region's restaurants offer traditional dishes such as fried river fish, fish stew, roast kid (goat) or suckling pig. There are still some months of the year in which other products are valued, such as river crayfish, migas or fava beans.
